Hubby and I have a small photography business (BlueExpanse Photography) that we run to cover the costs of camera kit, and we mainly get paid to photograph weddings, though we have done kittens and babies too!
Earlier in the week, we were called by Brides Magazine, which is one of the most well-known bridal magazines in the UK and asked if we wanted to be the only photographers for our area advertised in their next issue. We haggled the price down to a very very very reasonable rate, and our ad will appear in August.
This was a total surprise as we are such a small, young business and to think that we were chosen over and above other photographers who have much more experience than us, who work at it full time, and who have far more time to devote to web design etc etc. So we are waiting to see if anything comes of this. Hubby and I would love to run the business full time but I can't see it happening anytime soon. If we didn't have such a huge mortgage, it would be a more realistic option.
So there we go, nationwide advertisement for our little business. This could be the start of something big, or it might fizzle to nothing. Only time will tell.
