I have been doing a little purchasing in preparation for my challenge. Nothing extravagant, except perhaps the dress from White Stuff, at full price, something I never do!! But I did get two pairs of tights plus a woollen pencil skirt from Next for £5, some fleece lined tights which will do instead of leggings and a stripey top in the sale from Tesco.
I think I am ready. I won't be going shopping before next Thursday, and I am avoiding the sales. The pressure to 'find a bargain' is well and truly off, and it feels so good!
So the rules are as follows:
1. No buying new clothes. Not from shops, charity shops, ebay, online.
2. I can accept gifts of clothes.
3. I can make clothes or upcycle clothes from my existing wardrobe, or from any clothes given to me.
4. I can purchase new shoes if it is a necessity.
5. No buying accessories.
It's funny how, knowing that I am not going to buy any new clothes next year, that I am contemplating what of my current wardrobe I can get rid of. It would make sense to horde what I have, but the feeling is that I would rather have clothes that fit and feel good, rather than having lots of variety but not loving them.
The purging feeling is perhaps a seasonal thing, but I am going with it. I am forever on a mission to get rid of what isn't useful or totally loved. I struggle with the guilt of getting rid of stuff I have been given, but then so much of what we have in our house has been given to us...
