Over on the Homeliving Helper blog, the latest entry is called 'living the dream' and is about women living the dream of being home. There was a line in the blog entry which said that the author would stay at home whether her husband approved or not, as it is God's ordained role for women to be 'keepers at home'. I left a comment saying that I disagreed with the author's statement, saying that wives are called to be submissive to their husbands and to obey them. It seemed to have sparked a whole other debate, and one I am trying to get my head around.
I promised in my wedding vows to obey my husband. My husband has the responsibility to lead our marriage as he sees fit before God, and he will have to answer for that someday. I, on the other hand, will have to answer for how I obeyed my husband. As my husband says that I can only be at home part-time, that is what I will do. I will wait for him to be convicted, as I am, and wait prayfully and lovingly. My heart is to do God's ideal, but He has also placed me under the authority of my husband. And there I will stay (unless of course, he asked me to do something illegal, immoral or downright against God's word, which I am pretty sure he won't!).
Still no word from work as to their decision....
